Support for Rev. Walker

Dear Friend of IFCO/Pastors for Peace,

Come out to support Rev. Lucius Walker on Thursday, July 31st at 9:30 AM at 60 Centre St. Room 130. At that time, Rev. Walker will appear before a New York State judge. The purpose of this court proceeding according to the school board attorney is "to punish Lucius Walker for contempt of court; such punishment may consist of a fine or imprisonment or both."

These charges stem from an investigation by the Special Commissioner of Investigation for the New York City Department of Education regarding travel to Cuba by high school students. We believe that these charges are preposterous and an affront to all of us. For the past 20 years, IFCO has asserted that the U.S. blockade of Cuba is immoral and has consistently defended the right to travel to Cuba for all U.S. citizens.

We believe that this commission has no jurisdiction in this case. Demonstrate your support for Rev. Walker by showing up at 60 Center Street on Thursday, July 31st! Let the commission know that there is broad public opposition to this attempt at legal lynching.
